Job description
We currently have a full-time position available for a Shunt Truck Driver at our Dartmouth location.
This is an excellent opportunity for a team player with a contagious can-do attitude in the workplace. The Shunt Truck Driver is responsible for moving trailers to and from customers’ yards, delivering trailers, shunting trailers in and out of the shop as well as a variety of daily duties in our yard. This job requires physical strength, which includes heavy lifting, frequent bending, working in tight spaces, and the ability to be on one's feet or walk frequently.
Responsibilities and requirements:
Move trailers in and out of the shop under the direction of the Service Advisor
Complete the daily yard check (by no later than 10 am)
Perform check-ins and check-outs for the Rental Department, including sweeping and cleaning trailers and removing snow from roofs as needed
Interact with customers in a professional manner guiding drivers to parking units and directing them to the Service Department
Keep yard cleanliness and organization, including how units are parked
Deliver and pick up rental units out on rent to customers
Deliver and pick up trailers for customers and the Sales Department
Move units to the Truro location when required
Keep the shunt truck clean and tidy (inside and out)
Perform seasonal yard maintenance, such as mowing the lawn, filling in potholes, and snow removal (remove snow in the front yard and the employee/customer parking lot by 7:30 am)
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Current Class 1 driver’s license with a clean abstract
Ability to work within deadlines with minimal supervision
Previous experience operating heavy equipment (i.e. snowplow)
Ability to follow directions and work well with others
Schedule:
45 hours/ week
Monday to Friday (7:30 am to 5 pm)
